Re: Playboy Clermont club chips
In Response To: Playboy Clermont club chips ()

John:

I'd say that letter finally solves this puzzle. I am just finishing the last revision to my book on Playboys and had decided to include these after talking with Jeffery Lindsay and George Melas at the convention last year. It was always hard to believe that such increadably ugly chips were ever purchased by Playboy. No trademark rabbit head, they don't say "Playboy", the inlays look like they were copied by a xerox machine and glued on by someone who couldn't see straight, and the Clermont logo looks like a pair of scrany elephants fighting over a peanut, and these were attributed to the classiest of the Playboy Casinos?

The only rationale that I could come up with is that these were only to be used on the American Roulette tsbles, the main markers used in the casino were Jetons and Plaques, and as shown by the attached letter these never did get used on the tables before being canceled. (The casino was closed in the same year, 1982).

John, can I get a copy of the letter and put it in an appendix in my book?

Tom
