I visited the slabfree website and I would like a bit more insight as to the definition of "slabbing".
Is slabbing simply the grading of an item? Does it include the reconditioning of items?
I have these questions only after trying to seek out the definition at wiki or dictionary.com. Wiki has nothing for the word, and dictionary gives only three entries as a verb - none of which apply.
If in fact slabbing is the grading of an item, I can see the detriment on the chip industry for lesser valued items. There is no need to grade something if the cost outweighs the value. However, when I graduate to a higher level of sophistication in collecting, I wouldn't mind knowing that a several hundred or thousand dollar chip or coing of my interest is in fact genuine and graded by a reputable firm. With the correct research and education a future grading company may be able to guarantee this comfortable level of assurance.
When valuing my collectibles I always remember that nothing sells for more than what someone is willing to pay.
LMK your thoughts, Thanks for you time.
