Yes, I have. It feels old. Even the 'new' tower rooms have a 1930's Mediterranean feel to them. There isn't any glitz, which is one of the reasons I like it. The other is that it's got better than average slot paybacks and is not at all pretentious.
The last time I stayed there, January of 2006, I could walk a lot better than now, so I wasn't bothered by the two block walk to the Fremont St. Experience. Today that could be a problem for me.
One thing I particularly like is that they have a $5 minimum mini-bac table. That is truly unusual and the only one I know of. I like mini-bac because it has a house edge of only 1.2% when betting the bank, and it requires no skill. Always bet the bank, and never, ever, bet ties. Simple strategy for a simple guy. It allows me to people watch while playing.
Although it's older, and the bathroom can get a little cramped, it's a friendly place with good comps and lots of invites back - even for a very low roller like me.
I probably won't stay there this trip because the promotional rooms are in the old wing, directly above the casino, and don't have an elevator. With my leg and back problems I don't do stairs anymore.
I also like the Main Street Station, but it has the same walking problem and they don't have any mini-bac tables. It's a very clean place, has pretty good food, and every room has a free wall safe.
