Some of the scanners on the market do not (yet anyway) have software drivers compatible with the new Windows Vista operating system. My Epson 1670 Photo is one of them. I inquired of Epson and they replied that revised drivers would be available as soon as Vista was released. That was a couple of weeks ago.
Just something to think about if you are shopping for any peripheral these days and plan to stay current with MS software.
BTW, Vista is now available in retail stores. I am waiting on an upgrade until I learn a little more about the retail packages. On the MS site, I read that "family upgrade" packages (or some such wording) will be available to update more than one PC at a reduced price per computer. So far, I haven't seen any place to buy these. Also, MS says you can install or upgrade from CD if you don't have a DVD reader. I've looked at the wording on the retail packages and the ones I've seen still list a DVD reader as part of the required system. If anyone has more info about getting Windows Vista on CD's, I'd appreciate hearing it.
