I was not able to download Adobe Reader v8 because the Windows 98 software does not meet the minimum requirements for downloading v8; however having Windows 98 I was allowed to download v5.() which will not open David and Gene's great illegal chip data.

So, I told Adobe Reader that I have Windows 98SE (second edition), which I'm not sure I do, and I was allowed to dowwnload v6.0 which opens up these great data pages.
