One of the largest concentration of illegal clubs in Illinois was in LaSalle-Peru. LaSalle was known in the '40's as "Little Reno". Several articles have been written about the illegal casinos in LaSalle. The names "Cawley" and "Essl" are associated with many of the illegal clubs there.
