Archie,
I think the world of you, but the accusation of of "knocking them out over on that other ..." is erroneous. Afterall, the Le Cove chips are a past manufacture of Paul-Son and not a desighn or order placed by a ChipTalk participant.
Now don't get me wrong. I'm willing to bet that more than a handfull of ChipTalk participants would readily jump at the chance to design and buy (or just buy) Paul-Son hat-and-cane molded chips, if given even half a chance!
Now, I can take possible exception to the claim of being made for a casino that never opened, but in actuality, I really don't know if that is factual, and I would have to ask here if anyone else is familiar with that story and the validity of it.
In the sellers offering of Paul-Son Rodeo commemorative fantasy chips, he makes no such claim, but does so for the President New Yoryker chips (also Paul-Son) and that is a valid statement.
Turns out, that just as Greg Ikemoto has stated, there are quite a few home game set collectors and home/professional tournament set organizers that relish these types of chips (Paul-Son, hat-and-cane molded issues) and have been known to pay hansomely for them individually, by the stack, by the rack and by full sets.
They certainly pay more than I do, as I keep in mind, that for the most part, they were made by the 10's of thousands and sold for about $.79 each at the Paul-Son retail stores.
As a candidate for the office of Secretary, I have made my bones with the "blight upon our hobby", but what is happening here is not quite in that realm.
Now, I do not knowing know the seller (arconeltd) but I do tend to accept his/her sales copy in that he calls the chips "poker" chips, as opposed to what some would call "casino" chips, and he/she uses quotes to indicate what is printed on the chips, not as testiment as to what they are. All-in-all, I can accept the copy, but would like to know if he/she is correct about the 'made for a casino that never opened' claim.
And once we know this additional tid-bit, it should be added to the 's Fantasy, Fakes and Counterfeits webpage and not just left as "HP" (home poker chips).
