You have some valid points, and ultimately it is up to you what you do with the auction.
The right thing to do would to be to inform your bidders of the situation, and let them decide if they want to risk either not getting the chip, or paying too much for it. They should be informed of the situation, and it would be really considerate if you were the one who informs them.
Unlike your wii example, the people who bid on your chip thought that there would only be a very limited amount of these available. With no credible information out there they decided to bid on your auction. Those people who pay over retail for a wii do it because they want it now, and don't want to wait for it. They know there will be more eventually, but need it right away.
$86.00 for a Puma chip is a great price if no others are released, but try to think of how they would feel if the other 2300 were released, and they found out about it. The decision to remove their bids should be theirs, not yours.
