It is inappropriate for Officials of the club (or candidates) to use their roles to promote private non club sponsored activities. I have attended the Palms show, and Understand that the Super Bowl show is a well run gig. But neither are CCGTCC events, nor are they bound by CCGTCC guidelines.

If a person who donates their time and energy to the club, wants to go to the show, great-as long as they do it as a private person.

On the other hand, I do think the New Publicity Director should be required to attend the Chicagoland Chippers gathering on Feb 11th.
