Today’s banknote of the day comes from Scotland. It is a Commemorative Issue 5 pound note issued in 1996 commemorating the poet Robert Burns and issued from the Clydesdale bank of Scotland. The front features Robert Burns and lines of poetry from “A Man’s a Man for That.” The back has a mouse and a rose from Burns poetry. The note was engraved by British engraver Joseph Lawrence Keen (1919-2004) his engravings are some of my most favorites, the Mouse and the Rose is in my top 5! This note is has a low block serial (Serial 0000985) printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co London. It is in UnCirculated condition and carries a $25.00 book value with a possible slight premium for serial number. It has a watermark of an old sailing ship, security thread and is UV marked. ENJOY!
