I recently recall seeing a post about someone's find at an estate sale. As with any of you, I always seek out chips at yard sales, auctions, and antique or junk shops. Recently I had a dismaying conversation with a friend.
My friend has known me for years, and we frequesntly go to sales together. My friend has never been in a casino and has no interest in gambling whatsoever. But my friend has seen me buy anything remotely related to Vegas, Gambling, casinos etc.
My dear friend called to tell me they had been at a yard sale in their town, and their was a box I would have bought for sure. I was curious, and asked what was in it (as I was obviously expected to do).
In the box were ashtrays that looked like casino tables, an old bottle shaped like a slot machine, and some chips that may have been fake. "Fake, why?" I foolishly asked.
He saw names like Bingo Palace and International. He has never heard me even mention these casinos from any of my trips. There were some dice and other junk in the box as well.
Why didn't he buy the box for me? They wanted $20 for the box, and it was all junk anyway. Besides he doesn't like to mess with that gambling junk.
My friend is a wonderful guy, a good husband, a loving father. He works hard, pays his bills, and volunteers his time. He is always there when a friend is in need. Or a stranger.
Now the ethical question, is it Ok for me to make him suffer slowly while I kill him, or would that be wrong?
