I worked in the slot department there in 1981.
It was normal to take 20 to 100 per day out of the slot drops.
The cheats would also put a hole in them with a wire in it. They called it fishing. Drop it in the slot, trigger the wheels, and pull it back out.
We also buried pounds of them at the FQ's in basement renovations.
