A few weeks ago I made a post looking for information on the cars pictured on the recently released Imperial Palace car set. Thanks for the responses!
Terry, thanks for the link. Ralph, you were close - but no cigar! Len, while technically you were correct, I was looking for something a little more detailed!
Yesterday, while picking up the New Years Eve chips, I met the IP Public Relations Manager, who provided me with the following information:
The first $5 chip shows a 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Darrin Sedanca Deville. This one-of-a-kind car was specially designed by Howard “Dutch” Darrin for Countess Dorothy di Frasso, who wanted a car more elegant than the Rolls-Royce Phantom II owned by her social rival, actress Constance Bennett. The second chip features a 1936 tri-tone blue Delahaye 135 Competition Court Figoni et Falaschi coupe. Also a one-of-a-kind, it was once owned by ‘30s film star Delores Del Rio and was first shown at the 1936 Paris Auto Show. The third design is of a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette, considered in the automotive world to be an authentic American icon. The visually striking roadster has had the longest production run of any American sports car and has stayed true to its legacy. The ’62 is the last year these vehicles were made with a solid axle.
