This is sort of expected. Microsoft has moved Windows 2000 into the extended support -- So 2000 will get security fixes only. They want to move the customers forward, not keep them where they are.

The reasoning is two-fold -- they want the revenue from new operating system sales, and they want to minimize the support costs for maintaining old operating systems.
