Over the weekend, I went to pay a fellow chipper for some chips, only to find to my surprise that they was no $$$$$ in my account. Earlier in the day I had made a purchase for an electronic air filter and a humidifier for the furnace. When asked how I wanted to fund the purchase I checked with Credit Card. I figured this would give me some protection in case there was a problem with the transaction, product, etc. Litle did I know that pay-pal would take all the cash first, and then use the CC. Little good is does to have $60 on the CC when the total cost is Approx. $750. A call to them, got the standard answer from the phone rep and a supervisor. "THOSE ARE THE TERMS YOU AGREED TO WHEN YOU SIGNED UP". When I stated that it is not very clear all they did was repeat the above. I try and keep enough cash in there to pay fellow chippers for any average purchase, and it sucks to have to tell one, I'll send the $$$ next week. Luckly I had started the transfer of cash 3 days before, so all was taken care of yesterday.
After some playing around, I now have 2 paypal accounts. The 2nd one is only fundable by means of the credit card. One advantage is I no longer have to look and see if it's protected by PAY-PAL, "CAUSE IT IS PROTECTED BY VISA" and I won't have to worry about having a $$$ to feed fellow chippers when a good deal comes along, until they figure out what I've done. I'll probably get a notice that I can't have 2 accounts.
