Or does he actually has the chips, but may be sitting on a large quantity of them, so the value of these chips are inflated?
Bingo my friend! This is a dispicable practice that occurs from time to time on . We in the club honor the words of the other Mark E. - "Hoard responsibly." Once you gain familiarity with the guides and make observations about various chips over the years, you get a funny feeling when scarce chips start popping up on the market and is prime selling grounds to engage in this kind of activity. Someone who has consideration and love for the hobby usually makes the ethical decision to disclose numbers in a new find. What we usually find from a LOT of eBay sellers are various excuses or dodges:
At least this seller isn't even insulting us with some lame Dog/Ate/Homework routine, he simply won't answer a direct question. Becky Binion is ripe as rumor material for speculatuion that an ample supply of seldom seen Horseshoe chips were held back when she ran the place into the ground. Kinda like she was holding back the payments to health and welfare that she'd deduct from her employee paychecks.
As always, buy what you like and you'll never be unhappy with what it's worth!
