If you look very closely at the numeral '1' on a batch of chips you will find that there are 3 variations of this chip. Nothing to do with color or inserts.
There were 2 different 'printings' of the inlays, or so I assume.
One one 'printing' the very top of the numeral '1' is 'flat' or very near horizontal.
On the other 'printing' the very top of the numeral '1' is convex to a small degree.
There is a 'flat' both sides, 'flat' one side 'convex' the other and 'convex both sides.
Granted a nit picking variation but it does exist.
I have noted this in my son's memorial project 'California Card Room and Native American Gaming Chips and Tokens' Edition 1. Edition 2 is in the process and should be available early next year.
