Glenn, I rarely reply to messages like yours. It's at least as much an attack as those you claim berate people with new ideas. I think you'll find that honest, well thought-out, constructive suggestions are not only received well in the chipping community, they're welcomed and often incorporated by the leadership of the club if fessible.
No officer I've known of has ever claimed to have a monopoly on right ideas, nor have they been "afraid of losing control." In fact, the majority of the original Board of Directors of CC & GTCC had to announce that they would not stand for reelection before volunteers put their names in the ring to replace them. For too many years there was simply no one else willing to do the work!
You said: "I still continue to question why show and convention attendance is down, and membership falling off. I’ve heard all the excuses and the positive spins, but the bottom line is, this hobby is not growing like it should, and in fact, on a downhill slide. I fail to see anyone taking the necessary steps to change it."
Please tell us specifically what the necessary steps are, and why they will result in greater convention attendance and increased membership.
I'm sure all of us - the current BoD included, would like to know the solution to the problem. It's one many of us have discussed and considered, and apparently you have the right answers.
What are they?
Michael
