When another member of the room asks “politely” what was wrong with the Riviera and you get a response, don’t take it as a complaint. Take it as an answer to the question.

One can have a bad experience at any 5 star hotels or a bad meal at any 5 star restaurants. At the same time, they can have the same bad experience at budget food facilities, or limited service hotels.

Not everyone can afford to stay at, nor cares to stay at the high priced hotels and/or eat high priced meals. For some, Motel 6 would be adequate and even better than the Riv. And others, McDonalds just as good as or better than a Ruth Chris Steak House. It’s all a matter of preference and affordability.

It’s easy to complain, much harder to suggest, especially if the suggestion is controversial. And this board loves to jump all over the person that is controversial.

I still continue to question why show and convention attendance is down, and membership falling off. I’ve heard all the excuses and the positive spins, but the bottom line is, this hobby is not growing like it should, and in fact, on a downhill slide.

I fail to see anyone taking the necessary steps to change it. And as I said, when controversy or an opinion differs than a few on this board that may make a positive change, no one wants to hear it. Remember, substantial growth does not come from the old, it comes from the new. The old school on this board does not want any change, they want status quo. Why? Because they lose control.

The internet is the prime example of explosive growth, eBay, Yahoo, Google. They are the new kids on the block. And they will continue to grow!

Of course that’s only my opinion and I know where my opinion stands on this board.

However, the best part of my posts, I could care less what anyone thinks of my opinions, because I have no hidden agenda.
