I didn't stay at The Riv because I was influenced by the high number of sub-standard reviews it was given on internet travel sites. Here is a representative sample from Trip Advisor.

Well over 50% of the reviews are not good. I my experiece, when so many people take the time to pan a hotel, I probably won't be happy with it.
