Jodi,
You are obviously very passionate in your belief on this situation and I commend you for that passion. Since some of what you are speaking out about is an element of my campaign I figured that I would join in.
I too take exception to some of the problems that appear to be over-looked by eBay, and I agree that we MUST be proactive and of one voice to the powers that be at eBay. In my campaign message, I suggest that the work to create a dialogue with eBay and in doing so we can act in a capacity to provide advice and counsel to render "official" determinations as to the genesis of chips and related casino collectibles.
Of course a large part of this is to reach some sort of consensus on definitions of certain items. And for this I would suggest the Standards and Archives Committee, just as they developed an Official Grading and Condition Guide for chips and tokens.
As the World's largest organized entity relating to casino memorabilia and collectibles it seems to me that we are, collectively The Authority (as long as we are faithful and steadfast to our Code of Ethics) and that we should exercise that knowledge base to thwart the dishonest, to enlighten the ill-informed, and better educate both our own members and non-members alike.
Jodi, I applaud your take action attitude and I would like to replicate it and make it part of the Club's mind-set.
Thank you,
Jim Follis
