I have been busy for a few days and not sure where this all started but here is a little history on rooms for the convention. In the past the BOD tried to get convention space at a "better" hotel and found a lot of resistance from members not willing to pay the higher room rates. They tried to go off strip and got a lot of flack from some members (myself included). There is no pleasing everyone but it is very hard to find accomodations that will meet our needs and still be affordable to all members. The Trop and Riv are not top of the line hotels but they do meet our needs and I have not had any problems with the rooms at either place. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to request one of the convention towers when you make your reservation or you may get stuck in one of the lower rated rooms. There are some people who use services like Vegas.com to get the rooms at a discount but they have horrid cancellation fees and you will get a bottom of the line room.
