...is that many convention attendees who can not afford the significantly higher room rates at a more "upscale" (expensive) property, simply would not choose to stay at the "upscale" host convention hotel as a matter of economics ... just like some convention attendees presently choose to stay at other less expensive hotels in town that charge a little bit less than does Riviera.
The potential loss of occupied convention hotel rooms by club members affects the club's negotiating position with any hotel the club may be considering a move to in the future. Our past track record of the number of convention hotel rooms booked goes a long way in negotiating with other properties for future conventions ... as does our past record of how much of club monies is spent with convention catering.
Virtually every current and past CC & GTCC convention planners have quickly discovered that some of the more "upscale" properties (simply put) do not want/need the club's very limited convention business.
We're still very small fish in a very large pond.
