Joe, I think it's been explained several times in the past that the "free rooms" don't cost the club anything. As I remember the explanation, they come as part of the package when the club books the convention and don't affect the cost to the club.

If none of the club officers used their comped rooms it wouldn't save the club a dime, or help the club recoup any money. It's like any typical casino comped room or meal, you can't exchange it for cash.
