Many a time I have tried to pick up obsolete chips from the cashiers - once or twice I have been lucky but they seem to be very worried about letting any go (if they admit to having any!) probably because chip collecting is so unusual still over here that they don't believe a chip collector would want one for innocent reasons! I have found a couple, and I know several people that have picked some up when they know the staff who know we are just collectors, but it is a shame to know that so many chips have been destroyed over the years!
