I think the Red Sox are happy to keep him and merely wanted to show him they tried to accomodate his request for a trade (they were asking for too much in return). JD Drew behind Ortiz and Ramirez is pretty formidable, assuming he can stay in the lineup. He is not a guy you can build a team around, but as a third wheel, he's pretty good. He was totally wrong for the Dodgers, though.
