Last year, I sat down with a pit boss at the L'auberge du Lac Casino in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and we had a pleasant conversation until he found out I was a chip collector. At this, he started getting upset because he felt that chip collectors were a hindrance at his roulette games and poker tournaments because his chips were disappearing. Even when he would request before a tournament that no chips be taken from the table, some come up missing.
Since I don't collect these chips, I didn't really know what to say to him. He also questioned why the CCGTCC would endorse the collecting and selling of these "ill-gotten" chips in their magazine and conventions.
I never really put that much thought into the topic, but I guess he has a point. If roulettes and tournament chips are the property of the casinos, why does the club turn a blind eye to the marketing of these chips?
Again, personally, I don't care about the roulette and tournament trade. I was just asking because I never knew if the club as a whole had a policy on "stealing" or "disrupting" games at casinos.
