I believe it is useful to make a distinction. Although I agree fraud may be involved in situations other than defrauding a casino, reproductions are often made with no intent to defraud anyone. It helps to have the term counterfeit reserved for chips or tokens made when playable at a casino with intent to take money unlawfully from the casino.
I know Gene prefers to act as master and will always say to those who disagree, "Off with their heads...", but I will continue to say counterfeit is being used too broadly. Lets keep a term that refers to chips and tokens made to take into the casino and play or redeem them.
