First, I have read every single comment in this thread and I would like to comment on a few things.
I am a dealer, not a collector, and a member of the CC>CC. We no longer do the Las Vegas convention show for two reasons. The time of year it is now held (originally it was in April which was perfect) and the distance we have to travel to get to the show.
Now, Archie--we are dealers, and YES we do pay IRS for every sell me make, be it eBay, mail order, or show. That has always been our policy, and we will continue to do so.
And as for you, Don, on the Sterling's Magic. I can tell you that we USED to sell it, but wasn't able to buy in in large enough quanities to be able to sell it at the $7.00 price. That company gives BIG discounts if you buy in bulk, which we just couldn't do and we have never wanted to be that big of a dealer. We quit selling it years ago, and I believe the last price we were able to sell it at was about $12.00 per pint.
I agree that it is new members this club needs, not sellers. Sellers will always follow, as many have already posted here, if nothing else, but to sell off parts of their collection or duplicates that have accumulated.
New blood in the BOD? Why not--never hurts, but experience is also good too. Secretary and treasurer--how much imput into club promotions would those two offices contribute. I think new blood should be in the leadership positions mainly. Just my opinion.
Just my 2-cents worth.
