Joe staples his chips in cardboard 2x2's to the envelope....hard for a chip in a 2x2 to be considered "loose" or escape as you described. He has sent me in the neighborhood of a hundred chips in this manner. I don't remember any that "slipped out". The envelope would have to have been pretty mangled to tear away the chips.
