Just thought I'd like to interject one thought for you to concider when you said " For the record, I'm neither Republican nor Democrat. I'm an Independent and vote for the person rather than the party."

The individual you voted for can do nothing without the backing of his /her party. Consider voting for the party politics you embrace rather than any individual person. Individual preference should be reserved for the primaries only.
