I was having a discussion with someone tonight and we were talking about our situation in the Middle East and troop support. My position was that we (the people of the United States) do not support our troops and we prove it. Look at many of the enlisted personnel, it is not uncommon to find families forced to apply for food stamps and government aid just to make ends meet in their struggle. Now take a look at our athletes (football, baseball, basketball, & etc.) and the dollars in salaries we support them with. It is clear that we ‘value’ our athletes much more than our soldiers. Saying “We Support Our Troops” is cheap talk until we put our money where our mouth is.
Am I correct, or am I missing something here?
