The chips were out of the Dunes vault quite some time before the demolition. Several of us on the old Prodigy bulletin board discussed purchasing them at the time from the fellow who had them in storage. Maybe Andy has a copy of the thread from the early 90's.

The convention speaker this year, Burton Cohen, was the exec who managed the Dunes through the bankruptcy and closing. He answered a question regarding the chips at the banquet. The speech was video recorded and available from the Club in case you'd like to listen. He mentioned he also had some presentation cases of chips that disappeared before everything was inventoried. Things were pretty disorganized at the time, so it is possible that some got into employee hands, but I doubt very much if Steve Wynn had a hand in it.
