Today’s selection for the double header is Aruba, the land of the disappearing high school girls. Located in the Caribbean Sea and just a few miles off shore from Venezuela, Aruba was formerly part of the Netherlands Antilles on January 1, 1986 achieved special status of ‘status aparte’ as the third state under the Dutch Crown.
The notes are 1990 issues of 5 and 10 Florin, they share common backs of geometric forms with pre-Columbian Aruban art, stylized tree as watermark, and printed in the Netherlands by Joh. Enschede en Zonen. The 5 Florin has a stylized sea turtle with geometric design overlay on the front. It carries a book value of $17.50 UNC.
