do YOUR part and REFUSE to play automated Roulette, BlackJack, WHATEVER. Heck, I won't even play BlackJack if there are shufflers - and I make a point to tell Pitt Bosses that I'm a guest of the hotel, am not playing because of the shufflers, and am going to another property to get a traditional BlackJack fix.
Personally, I think most players will always prefer the social environment of a live dealer; BUT the only way machines can win, is if they have a lower operating cost for what they take in (that real estate on the Casino Floor is valuable, and they know what can be brought-in with dealer-based games) - if players refuse to play, the savings evaporate and they will be gone before you know it.
BTW: most new & expensive technology such as electronic roulette centers are leased to casinos from the manufacturers under a "Participation" agreement; the casino doesn't have to risk any money buying the game, just give a percentage of the profits to the company... The second a Casino Manager determines that the game is hurting the take of what the tables did before going automated, they can pick-up the phone and have those new games yanked off the floor.
