A lot depends on where you play.
Many places (Harrahs owned, in particular) have taken comp privileges away from the pit boss. You have to use player points. Other places still will give you comped meals if you ask. Start with the pit, and if no luck, ask to see a host. They will review your play and if it's reasonable, they will give you a comp slip for the restaurant, or call it in, depending on the casino. Remember, these days they are looking at your value to the casino when considering comps. Your expected loss on the game you play is a major consideration, and you might be comped at say 20-30% of your "theoretical loss" based on the size of your average bet.
Table play at major strip casinos won't even be rated these days unless you play green chips. And if you are looking at room comps at these places, you probably need $100 average bets in the table games. With your $10 play, only the smaller clubs will likely comp you. Try some of the locals places, or maybe Terribles near the Strip. Comped buffet meals are easier to get than coffee shop or gourmet restaurant meals, of course.
