Dave, thinking about this a bit more, I took Vic's scan of the reference chip and using Photoshop, I converted it from RGB to CMYK. I then adjusted the color to remove all red (i.e., simulate a complete UV fade of red) and look at the final result!
So, since the red of the clay chip (I know, clay composition) does not appear to be faded, I am more of the opinion that the inlay was printed with very little Magenta, hence, an error.
