the inlay appears to start of white. I say this because the white burst at the center of the inlay probably indicates the color of the inlay.
So assuming that in styarts off white, the color printing process treats red as a non-mixed color. Therefore, if the red fades, as it does in sunlight, the result would be seeing the white inlay below, not yellow.
Of course the scan is not hi-res, but from what I can see, yellow on the inlay only appears on the band where the mold is, not in the recessed center. Perhaps the chip was in contact with something yellow? But to confuse matters, it does appear to be sun-faded in that recessed center of the inlay, i.e., the red is not as strong as in the reference chip.
So, I do not have an explanation, other than it was erroneously printed in yellow, however, I would get the opinion of a printer.
