I was just researching them yesterday for my new chip site. Here is what the top 10 list was on this site: http://www.top10hostinglist.com/
I've gotten frustrated with all of them because:
1. One of them advertised $3.95. It turns out it is $2.50 more for Windows platform. I don't understand why I care if they use Windows, I just want to upload my html text files and pic files and be done.
2. You can't get the same deal for only a 1 month trial plan. All the advertised low prices are when you prepay for 1 or 2 years. Who wants to do that? I just want to try it out and see what plan works and make sure it is what I wanted and get the best price.
3. They force you to enter your domain name before telling you their REAL pricing plans. Why can't I be anonymous and know up front what they charge? I always enter a fake domain. I worry that any domain you type in that is unregisterd will be bought up by someone who is given the list of them and if you don't buy it soon you will have to buy it from someone else for their own price. Can't think of why else they do this.
4. They advertise no hidden fees and only $4.95 but then you click "sign up" and it is $30 setup fee, $8 domain fee. What's up with that!!
I suppose the way to go would be to buy the longer cheaper plan and explore the "money back" policy if you want out within the 30 days.
For now I have a free site through Yahoo Geocities which is rediculously limited to the point where if 3 of you visit it, it may exceed my hourly transfer limit and shut down for an hour. Plus it doesn't show up in a google search and it has advertising on it. Here it is:

If you find one that is actually the price they advertise for 1 or 2 months with the domain, let me know!! My site is ready to go.
