sometimes you meet the nicest people standing in lines...I was waiting in the chip line last week at the Palms and met Janice, Gene Trimble, and several others. I have been lurking on the board the last 2 weeks, You all seem like a great group of people. My name is Bill Purcell, I have lived in Las Vegas for about 30 years. About 6 years ago, I had a severe heart attack, 42% of damage so very lucky to still be around, so I'm semi-retired, living on a small disability pension. hearing the news about the closing of the Stardust got me into collecting. Back in the mid 80s,I made a living for 6 years just betting baseball. No computer then, so I would always be at the Stardust about 5am every morning using the handicapping room, getting ready for the 8am line. Lots of fun memories and met many great people there. So when I heard the Stardust would be closing, I was on the net looking at all the chips that where issued, which led to looking at different casinos and then I got bit by the bug. What a neat hobby! I'm doing this just for fun, I could care less what the value of my collection could be years down the road. For now, I'm just going to be collecting mostly Nevada chips in this order..
2.50,
1.00,
nice (cheap)examples of different molds,
any halloween that catches my eye.
My budget for now is to try and keep it under 10.00 per chip. So I just wanted to say hi, all the people here seem so friendly and helpful. Looking forward to trading with you...that is, when I get traders, lol
