My husband went through that almost 10 years ago now, and so far is cancer free, but has a permanent "alien". We both have adopted him as part of the family now. We finally just finished paying it all off--no insurance--so are now trying to catch up on things we have put off for so long.

Hang in there--sounds like you have a good attitude, and that really helps.
