I can't disagree more with that online poster...

1. He said, Miri asked me, "Why don't you join the Poker Players' Alliance and try to help fight this?" I answered that it's too late.

My opinion: It's never too late to join an organization to fight for what you feel is right. This guy wants to give up just because of a law that doesn't have any teeth to it. He's a wimp wishy washy guy to me. I'd love to play poker against this player. I could run over him all night. Until he figures me out like the rest of the online ccgtcc players have done! grin

2. He said, Online poker will never be the same. Some sites will play on and ignore the existing laws. Neteller will keep processing our payments until the banks either shut them out or the US Government puts enough pressure on them.

My opinion: Some of this is probably true. Online poker may never be the same. Only time will tell on this one. btw, the US Government can't put pressure on Neteller, they are a foreign based company. They don't care if the US waggles their finger at them. PLUS this law doesn't even apply to them... They do not offer gaming whatsoever. Once again, this guy is misinformed.

3. He said, If there is any hope of getting legalized online poker in the US, it's in the possibility of getting legalized online poker in the US.

My opinion: hum.... Duh! That's why he needs to join the poker alliance and get his voice heard instead of rolling over and giving up.

4. He said, Trust least those who are proud of breaking the law. Sites that are complying with US law and closing out American players are the safest. Why? They all have a long-term survival plan, and obviously cheating US customers isn't conducive to surviving long-term.

My opinion: "IF" those sites were breaking the law, they are were breaking the law way before the new legislation. This new legislation only prevents US financial institutions from doing transactions with online gaming sites. Once again, this guy has it wrong in my opinion.

5. He said, Neteller ain't so tough. Way before this legislation hit, the state of Maryland ordered Neteller to stop doing business with its residents. Guess what? Neteller complied. If Neteller will bow to pressure from a small U.S. state, what will it do when threatened by the federal government?

My opinion: I will admit I'm about to make a statement that my not be 100% true but I don't think Neteller bowed to Maryland or any state. Maryland passed a law that said banks based in their states couldn't do business with them. It's up to the banks to comply laws from their own state. Once again, I feel this guy is smoking something.

6. He said:They (pokerstars) aren't hinting that they'll comply, nor are they spitefully saying they will run afoul of it. That's a little troubling, as were their "technical difficulties" involving the play money games -- which clearly arose as they were working hard to separate the play money and real money servers.

My opinion: Sounds like he plays on the play money games side of Pokerstars. I'm not knocking that... This just tells me he might be a novice and not an expert in the field. If pokerstars is in fact splitting up the servers so that play games are on their set of servers, and cash games are on a different server... one might also speculate that they plan on a massive growth in players if partypoker stops taking action from US players. (I'm a half-full kind of guy I guess).

7. I'm starting to grow tried from typing. I don't find too much to disagree with him on this point.

8. He said: The WSOP will never be the same. Forget the main event. The entire WSOP will take a hit from this. There will be far fewer online qualifiers, and the interest in poker by then will have waned in general.

My opinion: This may be true. I don't see what the big deal is... The state of poker is 1000% better than it was 5 years ago. Even if the interest dies down 50%, the state of poker is now only 500% better than it was 5 years ago. To me that's not the end of the world. More people play poker now more than ever. Interest has to eventually slow down. It's unrealistic to assume the massive growth is going to keep continuing.

9. No opinion on his #9. I'm too tired from typing. lol.

Oh btw, I just checked my investment account and my forign gaming stocks that I bought into are already up 16% after a matter of a few days. I'm still "gambling" that the end of the world is not near. So far so good... grin
