I don't think that setting the opening bid at $100 is inviting. In fact, I think it is about what the chip is worth and should end up at. I have watched this chip sell several times recently. $100 is where it averages out at.
The strategy of setting the opening bid at the higher end of what the chip should go for kills action from a bidder who might not want to bid that high, but gets involved and then decides they WANT this particular chip.
No scientific data to support my theory, but I have been sucked in that way before!
