Tonight’s note is a Very Special Note. It is a 1977 issue 100 Taka from Bangladesh . The front features the Star Mosque in Dhaka at right. The back features the ruins of Lalbagh Fort at left center. The watermark is a tiger’s head. I said this was a special note and the reason it is so special is that a good friend from Bangladesh sent this to me. Not being a currency collector he wrote a message to me in the watermark area, ruining the collector value of the note but increased the value to me because my friend was killed while this note was in transit. I never learned what the message was. In UNC condition this note would carry a $20.00 book value, with the graffiti it books at less than 50¢, but it will never leave my collection. I have many notes such as this from people who were special to me and are no longer here. Those notes are priceless. Value does not always come from a book. ENJOY
