Today’s note is an undated $2.00 Private Issue note from the Hutt River Province in Australia. The Hutt River Province is not officially recognized. It came to being on April 21, 1970 when it seceded from the Commonwealth of Australia by Leonard George Casley who became the sovereign prince. It all stemmed from the government of Australia imposing wheat quotas on a group of 5 farmers in Western Australia who resisted the quotas, filed suit against the Queen, and later succeeded from Australia under the laws of self-preservation. They have been in existence for some 36 years now and have all of the trappings of a legitimate country.
The note features Prince Leonard at right, Arms at center. The back has Emus and flowers at center lelt. There are no security features, watermarks, or UV coding. This note like other private issue notes has no established book value or exchange rate. ENJOY!
