Your perceptions of Dave Whalen (from what you've been able to find out in this forum) are correct, he is a nice guy. Also, some believe he's done things that could do and have done harm to the hobby. I agree with that with a caveat. He is a craftsman who is providing a service that is in demand. He is open to disclosure pertaining to the work he does and has done. His disclosure is not the crux of the problem in what he does. His customers' potential lack of disclosure is a problem.
