pushing the "Mob Museum" concept. Two weekends ago, Pam and I were at our local Costco. We had just checked out and was getting ready to make our way over to the security exit check-point, when I spotted the good Mayor just finishing up with his purchases.
Being a few feet away, I walked over, looked into his shopping cart and not seeing any Bombay gin, I commented, "What, no gin?"
He quickly replied, with a great smile, "Nope, I have plenty at home!"
As it turned out he was pausing there to wait for his wife, who was off in the general direction of the restrooms. Given that pause, he asked how we were doing, to which replied fine and then mentioned to him that we had met him previously. Of course there was no expectation that he would remeber, but we mentioned that he was the Guest Speaker at the Banquet several years ago and that we very much enjoyed his talk.
Without skipping a beat, he recalled the focus of the Club and asked what we (Pam and I) thought about the Mob Museum and that plans were going forward. At about that time his wife showed up and we parted company.
Sure is an interesting guy.
