I don't claim to be an oil expert but it makes no sense to import a zillion dollars worth of oil per year and then ship our own product out of the country. If we truly had enough of our own oil we wouldn't be paying $70 per barrel to the arabs.

You will change your mind about stopping the imports the first time you have to wait an hour or two in line for gas.
