I did not include all the xrays in the 'report'
Some, Allan provided up to 6, where he rotated the chip and then xrayed from the other side also.
That was in addition to some wastage where he wasnt 100% happy with clarity. He also retained a set for himself.
For the chips we were researching only (and I had forgotten we also purchased some drilled examples for my eye training ) he probably took 50. Then, of chips from his own collection, where I wanted to see different mold chips from different time frames there may have been a further 30.
He also mailed me everything from his 'x-ray vision' article in the club mag 10 years ago, including the 25c Mint chip with the inlays removed to reveal the lead weight
When I was 'eye training' I had the benefit of many more xrays than you saw, plus, I had the actual films in front of me, not just scans.
Over the whole project I wouldnt be surprised if Allan did 200 xrays. I have a good representative sample of them in the safe, probably about 60. Aside from the one chip I returned to you (or what was left of it ), I still have all the others bar one 'red herring'.
I checked our total outlay. Between us it was $465 less $120 = $345. All we have to show for that is one intact chip. At least its the nicest one
