Xrays cannot penetrate lead. There is no mistaking a lead weight on an xray. Ive had them xrayed and disassembled for proof. Different molds from different manufacturers of different ages.
I can even tell you where the 2 micron deep glue reservoir is from an xray.
Im not basing this on a couple of xrays of a couple of chips, I have maybe 100 xrays to go on.
My one and a half cents...
